Tell us about your work---what do you do? I am a Wilhelmina Model ; I work for clients such as Valentino, St. John, Dana Buchman, Escada, Vogue, British Vogue, Elle, etc. What skills are needed? I guess that I fit into the clothing and have a great personality to speak to the clients when needed and also able to make their clothing look the best as possible. What was your major? Fashion and Textile Design . How did you get started in your career? I went to a modeling school when I was in high school and found some interest from some agencies but didn't really pursue anything then. I was approached again a couple of years later, and I decided to give it a try. After college, I decided to go to New York to try the whole scene out. And I have been here ever since. What experience do you need in this job? A professional attitude towards all types of people, a sense of color and style , and a discipline to stay in shape . Every day is a new experience in this job! Describe your "typical" workday: Some days it is like a 9 to 5 job, when I'm in Showroom , I try on clothing all day long and meet and greet clients or buyers and show them the way the clothing fits. Other days it is a runway show that I will be at for around 3 hours, into hair and make-up and rehearsals. What is the hardest aspect of your job? Staying sane! I guess all of the pressure that comes from it is the fact that you're constantly being judged by your looks and nothing else. You could be perfect for the job but your eye color could be wrong! What is the most rewarding aspect of your job? The beautiful clothing and the pampering! What are your suggestions for someone considering this field? Be confident in yourself and be ready for rejection, but if it is something that you really want, then stick with it. There are many aspects to modeling, and it's not all glamour and expensive clothing. You must have the right look of the moment or the ability to have staying power, so that you can stay in without burning out.
